Qatar Airways wants to get temporary permission for extra flights to India. The golf carrier wants to use the demand that was created by the collapse of Jet Airways.
Qatar has now turned to the Indian authorities for this, the Press Trust of India reports.
The busy routes to Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore are particularly interesting for the airline. Qatar wants to make extra seats available on such routes in the short term. The intention is that the temporary measure does not have to change the existing agreement between the countries from 2009.
Currently it is agreed that a maximum of 25,000 passengers per week can be transported between Qatar and India in both directions. This limit has almost been reached.
